Review & Giveaway ~ The Biggest Story DVD & CD #FlyBy #TheBiggestStory

Once upon a time there lived a man and a woman. They were the happiest people on the planet.

True, they were the only people on the planet, but they were still terrifically happy.

Unfortunately, things didn’t stay happy and wonderful for long . . .

The Bible is full of exciting stories that fill children with awe and wonder. But kids need to know how all those classic stories connect to Scripture’s overarching message about God’s glorious plan to redeem his rebellious people.  In The Biggest Story, Kevin DeYoung—a best-selling author and father of six—leads kids and parents alike on an exciting journey through the Bible.

With powerful illustrations by award-winning artist Don Clark, this imaginative retelling of the Bible’s core message—how the Snake Crusher brings us back to the garden—will draw children into the biblical story, teaching them that God's promises are even bigger and better than we think.

This set includes:

The Animated Short Film: Featuring beautifully animated illustrations adapted from the book, The Biggest Story: The Animated Short Film will captivate children and parents alike as they see how all the classic stories in the Bible connect to Scripture’s overarching message about God’s glorious plan to redeem his rebellious people.

The Audio Book: This audio book of The Biggest Story—written and narrated also by the best-selling author Kevin DeYoung—takes kids and adults through the Bible, connecting the dots from the garden of Eden to Christ's death on the cross to the new heaven and new earth.

Kevin DeYoung is senior pastor of University Reformed Church in East Lansing, MI, husband to Trisha, and father to seven children.

I've watched this with my 12 year old, and also with my 5 year old and 7 year old niece and nephew.

My son liked how fast-paced the short film is - each chapter is only a few minutes long.  I loved the bold, bright illustrations, too.  We also enjoy listening to the CD in the car while running errands.

My niece and nephew liked the bright colors and the story.  But being younger, even these short chapters seemed a little long for them.  They both watched the entire film though!

Giveaway & Review: We The People Fight Tyranny Game

Hey y'all!

Hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend.  We had my daughter and son-in-law over for a cookout.  After we ate lunch, my daughter, son and I played a super-fun new game that I received to review last week!

We opened the box and set up the board - it's BIG!  There are several different types of cards and several decks of trivia cards as well. (more about these cards below) We started by reading the instructions and picking our colored pawns for playing.  Then David (he was the Game Czar!) chose identity cards for each of us. These cards determine each player's occupation, salary, family members and vehicle for the game.  I was not too happy with my card - he got me good!

We love a good board game and this one didn't disappoint! We laughed a lot during the game, and had a great time playing.  I was surprised that I knew a good number of the trivia questions (but not always the ones I got on my turn, ha ha!)  I think our game took about an hour to play before Katie was declared the winner. David came in second place and Mom came in last - wahh!

We can't wait to play again - it was so much fun and the trivia questions are great! We all learned things while playing this game.  Some of the questions we encountered were about religion, historical events and figures, Supreme Court cases, and the Constitution.

Oh, and the "Social Justice" cards are hilarious! They show you how ridiculous an intrusive government is to our society, and teach players about modern day tyranny.  The "Disappoint Big Brother" cards represent ways "We the People" can restore America.  This game WILL spark conversations about our government and changes that are needed!  My kids and I already talk about that often, but the game really encourages discussion!

If you homeschool, this makes a great history resource.  Heck, even if you DON'T homeschool, it's great!  It's meant for 3 - 8 players, and ages 15 and up.  David is 12 and he surprised me with how many trivia questions he could answer.  So I think some younger kids would do just fine playing this game!  Oh, and another great thing - this game is MADE IN THE USA!

Visit the website to learn more about the game, or to purchase your own copy!

I am so excited that the game designers are sponsoring a giveaway of We The People Fight Tyranny. This giveaway has a retail value of $56.99 but they are going to send one of my readers a FREE game!  Isn't that awesome?

All you have to do is enter through my rafflecopter widget below.  Make sure you complete the mandatory entries (one of which includes leaving a comment below this post) so your bonus entries will count!  Good luck and thanks for stopping by!

Atlanta-area Pollo Tropical openings!

Earlier this year we tried Pollo Tropical for the first time and WOW did we ever love their fresh, tasty food! I'm really happy to share that the new location in Buford, by the Mall of Georgia ( 3385 Buford Drive) has opened and it is fabulous!

The Woodstock location opened on  Aug. 19 at 188 Molly Lane, with a grand opening celebration from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 21. (*tomorrow*)

The Marietta location opens Sept. 2 at 680 Johnson Ferry Road, with a grand opening celebration from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sept. 4.

Grand opening celebrations will feature calypso bands and spin-and-win prizes, and an interactive charity challenge where contestants will compete for first- and second-place prizes of $500 and $300 to go to their favorite charity. The first 100 guests at the festivities will be entered into a raffle for the grand prize of Free Chicken for a Year* and receive a free meal coupon, redeemable on a future visit.

Pollo Tropical’s menu centers on its signature flame-grilled chicken and also includes Mojo Roast Pork, Grilled Tropical Wings and made-from-scratch sides like rice, beans, Caribbean corn souffle and balsamic tomatoes. The Tropical Lite menu offers tasty, lighter options that range from 340 to 510 calories and are built around the core Caribbean flavors of the Pollo Tropical menu.

At Pollo Tropical, savory island spices, herbs and citrus juices are blended into rubs and marinades that enhance the flavors of its fresh dishes. The famous Saucing Island® brings on the flavor – and a little heat – with 10 signature sauces including Curry Mustard, Guava BBQ, Pineapple Rum, Cilantro Garlic and Spicy Poyo-Poyo. To complement its menu, Pollo Tropical also offers a variety of island-inspired beverages, ranging from Caribbean beers to coconut water.

The 3,400-square-foot restaurants will be open from 10:30 a.m. to midnight daily, and will feature indoor and outdoor seating for more than 90 guests, with limited table service and a convenient drive-thru. Guests can receive a coupon for either a buy one, get one free small TropiChop® or $3 off a family meal by signing up for the Pollo Reward$® loyalty program.

My family and I had lunch at the Buford location over the weekend and it was so delicious. Everything is fresh and a nice change from the usual restaurant fare around here!

I had the chicken, bacon, avocado wrap with Caribbean corn souffle.

I tried their BBQ sauce and also added some of my favorite, the Pineapple Rum sauce.  To. die. for!!

While I'm talking about sauces, here is their awesome sauce bar!

David tried a Chicken Quesadilla wrap with mac and cheese as his side.  He added Curry Mustard sauce to his wrap and proclaimed it delish!

My husband had their BBQ pork sandwich with fried yuca as his side.  He tried several sauces and peppers with his.

I also made sure to take a few pictures of the new restaurant in Buford - it makes you feel like you are close to the beach!  The tropical colors and light, airy space make a wonderful getaway for a fast lunch or dinner.

I'm loving the mason jar lights!

Don't judge, but we even went back for lunch yesterday! I know - twice in a week! The Buford location is close to us, and some days, homeschoolin' families just need to get out of the house. :) Yep, this place will be a favorite of ours, I know...

To celebrate the three new locations in Atlanta,  Pollo Tropical wants to give one of you a Pollo Tropical swag bag with coupons!  I also have a few coupons from the grand opening to give away, so there will be a couple of winners for those, as well!

Giveaway ~ Chuck E. Cheese's all new menu for grown up tastes!

If you are a mom, you've probably spent many hours at Chuck E. Cheese with your kids.  I know I have! We've both hosted and attended many birthday parties there, and I can't even count how many times I've taken my kids for play time when it is too hot, too cold, or rainy outside! It's a great place for me to catch up with friends while our kids play and run off some energy.

My kids always liked ordering pizza there, but I usually just ate a few breadsticks.  We didn't really go for the food, it was mostly for our kids to have fun.

Well, parents - that has changed! Chuck E. Cheese has added some delicious new menu options just for us grownups!   CEO of CEC Entertainment, Tom Leverton, says "We've added new items that cater to the more sophisticated tastes of the parents who take time from busy family schedules to bring their kids into Chuck E. Cheese."

David & I attended a Taste Test at a local Chuck E. Cheese yesterday and I must say that we were surprised by how good the new menu items are!

Corporate Chef Gregory Casale was on hand to tell us about the new menu and let us try everything. He told us about their new thin and crispy crust (you can order it with any of their pizzas), and that they make their dough fresh in each store every day.  The whole-milk mozzarella cheese is freshly grated, veggies are chopped by hand - just like any pizzeria.  He shared that "The new menu boasts a wide variety of options and flavor combinations and I'm most excited about the new pizza crust and pizza options."  In a blind taste taste of 308 respondents, 59% preferred new thin and crispy Chuck E. Cheese pizza to Pizza Hut and Dominos combined!   I have to agree - I really liked the new thin and crispy crust - it's delicious!

So now you get to find out about the delicious new menu items Chuck E. Cheese has to offer!

There are two new Signature pizzas:

Cali Alfredo ~ thin and crispy crust with alfredo sauce, fresh spinach, sliced musrooms, chicken breast, sausage and freshly grated mozzarella cheese.

BBQ Chicken Pizza ~ thin and crispy crust with chicken, bell peppers, freshly grated mozzarella, crispy onions and a BBQ sauce drizzle.  (This was my favorite pizza!)

Here are the three new sandwich options:

Caesar Wrap made with whole wheat tortilla

Club Wrap made with whole wheat tortilla

Oven Roasted BBQ Chicken Ciabatta Sandwich

Want an appetizer with your meal?  Try one of these new options:

These are the new boneless wings ~ I loved the Sweet Chili sauce.  Spicy but oh so good!  They also come in BBQ sauce.  Chuck E. Cheese also offers bone-in wings with either sauce.

The breadsticks are tasty, and the new Buffalo Chicken Cheesy Bread was awesome.

A visit to Chuck E. Cheese deserves a sweet ending, so you should try one of the new desserts:

David loved the Churros with the salted caramel.  My favorite dessert is the new, improved Cinnamon sticks with a cinnamon shortbread crunch and a drizzle of white chocolate icing.

We will be going to Chuck E. Cheese for a family fun night soon! David is growing up so fast, and I want to enjoy every moment with him.  I love watching him have fun and let loose when we visit Chuck E. Cheese.

And now I want you to do the same with your kids.  Chuck E. Cheese gave me a Guest Pass to give away to one lucky reader.  It's good for a large pizza, 4 soft drinks and 30 game tokens.
