Review: Furry Paws Supply Pet Urine Odor and Stain Remover

I've been trying out Furry Paws Supply Pet Urine Odor and Stain Remover for the past few weeks. The previous owners of our home left some lovely pet stains and odors behind, and I've had a time getting them to go away! This has definitely helped with both. It's got a very pleasant, clean scent, and it's helped several old stains and smells to disappear! I just followed the easy directions and it's been a great addition to my cleaning supplies.  The funny thing is that it also keeps our new kitten away from those spots after I treat them.  She checked one place out, but stayed away from the others.  The company said it would keep pets from revisiting spots, and that seems to be true!  We've been very pleased with this spray remover.

More info from the company:

Our Commercial grade Pet Urine Odor and Stain Remover formula removes all types of pet stains, not just urine stains

Not only will our Pet Urine Odor and Stain Remover remove pet stains and odors but stops your pet revisiting the same spot

Our enzyme based commercial strength cleaner has a fresh clean fragrance so no harsh chemical smell.

Unlike many other stain and odor removers, we use a commercial grade Enzyme based formula, not harsher chemical based formulas.  Harsher chemical-based formulas can damage your carpet and other floor surfaces,  and often end up replacing one bad smell with another.

Advanced formula product is formulated and manufactured in the USA and has earned the seal of approval from the Carpet and Rug Institute as being safe to use on your carpets.

Using herbs & botanicals around the house

We are getting a preview of a channel called Veria on Dish Network this month, and I'm truly enjoying it!  This morning I watched a great show on there called "What a Relief" that talks about using herbs in your house.  I'm going to post some of these uses not only for you to enjoy, but also as a way that I can easily refer back to them! : )

1.  To keep your closet or drawers moth-free, fill a muslin sachet sized bag with equal parts of dried lavender and dried wormwood.  Store in drawer or closet.  After a few months, refresh by crusing bag gently between hands, replace in closet or drawer.  Wormwood is anti-microbial and a natural insect repellent!

2.  To treat laundry stains:  resoak stains with hydrogen peroxide or white vinegar...a little goes a long way.   Drying your clothes in the sunshine helps as sunlight is a natural bleach.

 3.  La Lavenderia Herbal Laundry Detergent:  Brew a handful of lavender & wormwood  stems/flowers/leaves in a large pot of water, then strain.  Add 1 1/2 - 2 cups of this strained herbal water to an empty glass jar or bottle, then add 1/2 cup castile-based liquid soap (like Dr. Bronners unscented, or lavender scented), or you can shave a solid castile soap bar into the bottle.  Add  2 Tbsp baking soda (which acts as a fabric softener, reduces static cling) & 1/8 cup of white vinegar or apple cider vinegar, which is also fabric softener.  Use a bit of this mixture in your wash, and it will smell great and be disinfected naturally!  It's non-toxic, safe on skin, and lavender is not only a natural cleanser, it has a calming scent too!  Sweet!

4.  Safe & Natural Insecticide:  boric acid kills ants, or sprinkle it on your carpets to deter fleas.  Wipe ant trails in your home with the following mixture:   Dilute hot sauce in water, add a dash of cinnamon, and a few red pepper flakes.  Then spray across trail, wipe, and watch them leave: it will upset their ability to pick up the scent of their old trail!  Organic, inexpensive and doesn't burn skin!

5.  To clean your toilets, first scrub with brush, flush, then add 1 tsp each of lavender & thyme essential oil to 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide.  Add to the toilet, let sit for an hour or longer before flushing.

6.  For toilets stained with rust or hard water deposits, baking soda or citric acid can be used to scour those stains without ruining the enamel.

For more information on any of these natural recipes, check out veria.com!  : )

Thanks to all who entered, and please check back later this week for my next HUGE giveaway - a 2 night stay in Florida!!

Happy Sunday, friends!  It's been the most beautiful Fall Sunday here in Atlanta - the temps were in the 60's and life is GOOD!  And now...I am so very excited to share this giveaway with y'all!

Erin Branscom is the sweetest lady!  She is a fun mommy blogger and a Shaklee Distributor.  She asked if I'd be interested in reviewing their Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate which is all natural and non-toxic.  Since Katie has asthma, cleaning can be dicey if I'm busting out the bleach or other stinky cleaners.  They can really mess with her, and lately I've had a problem with the fumes from bleach - I have to open every window, turn on fans, etc to be able to breathe! So a non-toxic cleaner really sounded great - IF it would clean as well as my bleach or other cleaners.  And get this - one 16 oz bottle makes 48 GALLONS of cleaner!! She sent me a vial of their Basic H2, which made two spray bottles of cleaners.  One bottle of all-purpose kitchen/bathroom cleaner one bottle of window and glass cleaner. (I grabbed two spray bottles at Dollar Tree to use for this)  I was really impressed with how much cleaner I was able to make from the small vial, and it worked great!

I cleaned the master bathroom sinks and the mirror in there, and my kitchen windows too, all with great results.  Then I tackled the fridge - it was a job I'd been putting off! Are my kids the only ones who let ketchup drip down the side of the bottle as they put it up and then it gunks up under the jar/bottle? Same with caramel sauce and chocolate syrup....it was a mess in there! But the Basic H2 spray cleaners took care of the glass shelves, the walls of the fridge, even the drawers and door shelves!  I used both the all purpose cleaner and the glass cleaner to get this big job done, and now my refrigerator is sparkling clean again! And there's no strong fragrance left behind from the cleaner - that might be my most favorite thing about using Basic H2!

My sparkling clean fridge - love it!  No "before" pic of this - I completely forgot to charge my camera!

Erin also sent me a container of Shaklee's Scour Off Heavy Duty Paste.  Oh, how I love this stuff!! It smells like bubble gum according to my kids - very pleasant!

Now, I'm gonna make a confession.  My oven had not been cleaned in over a year.  About two years ago, the self cleaning function stopped working.  So last year I had to clean it with one of those super stinky spray on/wipe off cleaners.  Not. A. Fun. Job.   To say I'd been putting off doing that chore again is an understatement!   When I got the Shaklee scouring paste I knew the time had come to tackle this job again.

I'm almost embarrassed to show the "before" picture to you, but I want you to see how well it works! (don't judge!!)

                                                                   Gross "before" picture:

and after:

Not perfect - but almost! There are still a couple of places I may have to chisel some permanently burned-on things off, but I'm thrilled with how it looks now.  To my surprise, it was truly pleasant to clean with this scouring paste from Shaklee!!

I love that these cleaners are natural and that they are affordable!  Shaklee has a membership option where you get a nice discount when you order products, or if you would like to become a distributor and sell these products yourself, Erin will give you extra free products for joining her team! You can contact her through her blog if you are interested in finding out more about joining Shaklee - make sure you tell her Aimee sent you! : )

So now on to the giveaway:  click the "read more" link to enter through my rafflecopter widget.  There is one mandatory entry, and lots of extra entries too.  Good luck!!

Disclosure:  Erin provided me with Basic H2 Cleaner and Heavy Duty Scouring Paste to review.  All opinions written above are my own honest feelings - I LOVE these Shaklee cleaning products!! She is also providing five vials of Basic H2 Cleaner to my winners.  No monetary compensation was received.  :  )

Had to take a little time away!

We've all been so sick this past week - dumb allergies!! Today has been the first day I felt semi-human again, but I have the worst cough right now and I'm so hoarse!  Really ready to feel good again.  Then to top it off, my laptop's power cord DIED on Wednesday!! My DH ordered another one online, and we were sharing his cord, then THAT cord died too!  We've really had a rough week, feeling bad and not having our internet!! Luckily, about an hour ago,  I remembered my Dad gave Katie a laptop, and sure enough, there was this cool little bag included with an iGo Juice cord - and it works for my laptop!!  YEAH!! So for now, I've got power!!   the new cord should be here this week....

I just drew the winner for the Betty Crocker Prize Pack (congrats Louis!).  Next I have a review/giveaway coming up this week for Shaklee - I have to say I am very impressed with their cleaners!! I cleaned my oven Friday with a really nice smelling (think bubble gum scent!) scouring cleaner.  First time I've EVER cleaned the oven without the windows open and fans on full power....it was a pleasant change, to say the least!  More on that later this week...

Also, we'll be traveling down to Orange City, Florida in less than two weeks for a nice weekend trip.  The Holiday Inn Express there is going to give one of my readers a TWO NIGHT stay!! Orange City is a wonderful destination because it is halfway between Daytona Beach and Orlando!! So you can easily venture to the beach for a day or two, then head to Disney or Universal for the day too - it's the best of both worlds.  Can I tell you that my kids are counting down the days til we leave? I'm actually letting them skip school that day - we have conferences that week and there won't be much going on that Friday.  I am ready for a break from Atlanta, allergies, traffic, and my daily carpool runs! : )  So get ready friends, two more really great giveaways coming up in the next few weeks!!  Hope you are enjoying these first few days of Fall, and I'll be back later this week, hopefully feeling better and ready to share some of my Fall decorating ideas and recipes!

My new can't-live-without products!!

So I've been doing a lot of freezer cooking lately. A lot! Our crockpot is used 3 - 5 days a week now. One chore I detested was cleaning the crock from the crockpot. It would get so sticky and gunky and gross! Then my friend Renea and I had to run into Publix one day before we went to pick up our boys at school. She bought the most amazing product ~ Reynolds slow cooker liners! I had never seen them before, but they are amazing. I can make the messiest thing in there now, and I just pull the liner out and throw it away! WOW! What a time saver it has been!

Another amazing product for me is McCormick Recipe Inspirations: these are the coolest spice collections!! I paid $1.99 for mine - it's a little more than I'd usually pay for a spice packet but it is so cool! There is a recipe card on the back, and on the front, six premeasured spice blister packs. I bought the Quesadilla Casserole blend for our chili today, as it had the cumin, chili powder, red pepper and garlic that I would use anyway!

I love finding & sharing new products(or at least, new to me!) What are your favorite products that save you time or money, or both?!
